This is our moment

As the only cancer center in South Florida designated by the National Cancer Institute, Sylvester is a pioneer in groundbreaking cancer research and care. Now, as part of its relentless pursuit of cancer cures, Sylvester is constructing a premier cancer research facility that will bring hope to patients in South Florida and beyond.

Hear directly from the cancer-focused scientists who will conduct breakthrough research at the Kenneth C. Griffin Cancer Research Building to develop innovative cancer therapies and treatments.

A new era is here

Slated to open in 2025, the Kenneth C. Griffin Cancer Research Building will stand as a 12-story, 244,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art facility on UHealth’s downtown Miami campus at 1425 NW 10th Avenue. Here, Sylvester’s dedicated team of researchers will be in pursuit of:

Discovery

Cutting-edge imaging, multidisciplinary collaborations, and dynamic physical spaces, with two floors for patient care, will further advance our capabilities to care for our patients and will support the development of new therapies and clinical trials likely offered only at Sylvester.

Brilliance

Designed as a center to support discovery, the facility will attract the best and brightest cancer scientists to find cures for the most challenging cancers and further develop Sylvester’s advances in life-saving therapies and translational medicine.

Community

As one of the most diverse populations in the U.S., our region will allow Sylvester to design cures for different populations and amplify our impact for hemispheric and global communities. We will provide more effective treatment options with health access and equity at the core of our research and clinical care.

Hope

We will focus on total-body wellness during the treatment of our patients and seek to improve their quality of life with customized cures for their specific cancers. We will also set the standard for survivorship programs that prioritize recurrence prevention and benefit patients and their families.

Innovation

Leveraging Miami’s significant rise in technology, the Griffin Cancer Research Building will serve as a hub for innovation. Multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art equipment and laboratories, and the latest network and machine-learning technologies will support collaboration between the world’s leading cancer experts. This enhanced teamwork will accelerate the translation of groundbreaking scientific discoveries into innovative, life-saving treatments and therapies for patients in South Florida, and the sharing of transformative results for other patients across the world.
